Calorie Calculator

The calorie calculator is a tool that helps estimate the daily calorie requirement to maintain current weight. It relies on the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which represents the amount of energy needed to sustain basic bodily functions at rest.

You can find more calculators, such as the body fat calculator, BMI (Body Mass Index), and macronutrients calculator, on Nutrition, Fitness and Health calculators page

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to calculate the BMR, taking into account their weight, height, and age.

The Mifflin-St Jeor equation for calculating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is as follows:

  • For men: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5
  • For women: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161

The result will be the number of calories your body requires to maintain basic bodily functions at rest.

After calculating the BMR, you can take into account the level of physical activity. Typically, the following activity coefficients are used:

  • Low activity (sedentary lifestyle, little or no physical activity): BMR × 1.2
  • Moderate activity (moderate exercise or activity at work): BMR × 1.55
  • High activity (intense exercise or physical work): BMR × 1.9

Calculator provides estimated values and serves as a starting point for understanding calorie needs. Personal differences and specific circumstances can influence actual calorie requirements, so it's recommended to consult with a nutrition specialist or dietitian for more precise information. This information that can be useful for meal planning and tracking calorie needs in order to achieve weight and overall health goals
